Caring for your koi (Japanese carp) and pond are interrelated. In order to have a healthy koi, you must have a healthy pond. If your koi is sick, it may transfer the illness through the water of the pond. Caring for your koi starts with the construction of your pond or water garden. Biological filtration is important to establish immediately. Aeration, pre-filtration and water circulation must be accounted for before putting in fish.
