Nylon socks work great for algae blooms. Add an algae settler (Pond Clear), and then hook the sock up to the end of the pump hose. The algae will quickly fill up in the sock and within a day your pond should be clear.
*Scotch Brite Padding can be found at most Home Depots. It is a spongy material that is usually used for air conditioner filters.
