Koi Health
Koi are very hardy animals.  This is because they are in the species of carp, a fish that can survive in a wide variety of conditions.  Koi usually don't acquire diseases very easily, but sometimes it happens.  You have to be ready to identify the disease and be ready to cure it very fast.  Here is a chart with disease name, signs of the disease, how to cure it, and how to prevent it. For most koi ailments use Salt Treatment.

Gas bubble disease  Gas bubbles build up in the body cavity and in tissues of young fish  shade for pond  shade for pond 
Gill Rot  Increasing breathing difficulty, gasping for air; white spots on outer skin of gill, coating of grayness on entire gill chamber.  Frequent aeration, special gill rot medicine keep pond water clean 
Fungus  A gray white, fluffy coating on dead or injured animals.  Add 1 table spoon of salt per every 5 gallons of water Better biological filtration.
